Fantastic Mister Ox is the musical alter ego of Chris Howard, a British-born / Denver-based recording artist, music producer, and DJ.

Fusing techno, hip hop, and UK garage beats with cosmic synths, live guitar loops, and organic field recordings, Ox aims for the sweet spot between adventurous psychedelia, emotive downtempo and high energy electronica.

Ox has remixed artists ranging from Lana Del Rey to Bud Bronson & the Good Timers. He frequently DJs with his good friends, CTRL Z, Niiz, Ginger Smalls, and other heroes of the Denver underground scene. He is a part-time member of both the Bruce SpringThr33s Incident and the Bloomtronics art collective.

Ox’s debut album, and the sky still speaks, was released on May 8, 2026, and features ten songs written and recorded beneath the aurora borealis in Hvalfjörður, Iceland. Blending atmospheric, melancholic textures with rolling breakbeat grooves and warm, driving bass, the new LP was built from weathered acoustic guitar, a thrifted Reykjavík xylophone, and field recordings captured on the local glaciers and fjords. The new tunes represent an organic evolution of FMO’s leftfield electronic sound: a nocturnal, club-adjacent, nature-soaked exploration of impermanence and awe.

As a solo artist, Ox plays live sets and DJs around the country, though he typically focuses on writing and recording new material.
